As a current IIN student or alumni, you've been given a free trial period to start your LiveEdit website*. After this initial period expires, you’ll be able to continue with your website by choosing the right monthly website package that fits your business needs, but you can worry about that later. For now, let's get you started with your new website!
Check your inbox for an email from firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com. If you’re not seeing the email, it might be stuck in your spam/junk folder! Add the email addresses to your address book so you will be sure to receive future communication from us. If you need the LiveEdit invite resent, click HERE.
Still don’t see the email? Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and let them know you have searched and searched your email and nothing is coming through.
Follow the instructions in your invitation and get started with your new website! Follow along with the steps below to choose a template and set up your account.
Okay, first step is to pick your base template! This is the foundation for your website. LiveEdit has six unique templates for you to choose from, each with a different look and feel, so explore the samples and pick the one that you like best!
(You'll be able to do a 'live preview' of each template before you make your selection, but you can also see an example of what each template looks like HERE.)
Don’t see the perfect template? Don’t worry – every template is 100% customizable, so just choose one that best fits the look you're going for. We make it easy for you to change your website as needed to grow along with your business!
Q: Can I switch templates once I get started?
A: Yes you can! However, you can never go back to start at the beginning. Anytime you change a template, the content (text, images, etc.) will change to reflect the new layout of that template. So some adjustments will need to be made to format your content to your new template. You can learn more about changing templates from our guide in our Education Portal HERE.
When choosing your template, click the 'Live Demo' button and you can take a live tour of the selected template. This is a great way for you to see how each template looks and functions before making your choice.
Once you've made your decision, click the “Get Started” button in the top right-hand corner to confirm your template choice. (Don’t click the back button as it may force you to exit without having successfully created your site.)
Create an account by entering the email address that IIN has on file and choosing a password.
(You might want to write down your information and keep it someplace safe. It'll come in handy later on.)
Next, pick an account name (e.g., johndoe) for your website. This can be your name, your business name, or really whatever you would like (we do recommend your business name though) and is NOT going to be your permanent web address (more on that later). You’ll see that “.liveeditaurora.com” is already written out for you, so don't include any spaces or “.com.”
Q: I am getting an error message because the name I want is already taken. What do I do now?
A: If the name you want is taken, try choosing another variation (i.e. mywebsite2, mywebsite7589, etc.). Again, this is NOT your permanent site name so the name you choose isn't really all that important to anyone other than you.
Then just read and accept the Terms of Service and click the “Order site” button to spin up your new website!
When you click the “Get Started” button after registering, you will be taken to your Site Settings. This is where you can add some basic information about your business (contact info, logo, social media accounts, etc.). You can learn more about all that HERE.
For now, just make sure you fill out all the mandatory information to get started (required fields will be marked with an asterisk). You can come back and fill out the rest later on.
NOTE: Your email address should auto-populate in both the Billing and Support sections. These are both for LiveEdit to contact you ONLY. You can leave it as is or update to the email address where you want to information about your billing and account information sent.)
In addition to the required information, it’s a good idea to update one other thing that will make a huge difference when viewing your account.
The second line on the left that says “business name” will auto-fill with your website name (whatever you put in for your account name -i.e. mywebsite.liveeditaurora.com). You might want to change that to your business name, or if you don't have one yet, your name.
Make sure to click 'Save Settings' to save your changes, then click 'View Site' to go check out your new site!
Q: I am trying to get back to my website to work on it, but I can’t remember how to get there.
A: Not a problem. Remember when you saved the administrative website URL you created (up above)? Just type in that web address into your browser search bar and add /login to the end (e.g. mywebsite.liveeditaurora.com/login).
You should have also received an email with this link when you ordered your site.
TIP: Bookmark your log-in page in your web browser so that you can easily access it in the future.
